BSc DipArch studied architecture at the University of Strathclyde and following exchange to Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, at the Mackintosh School of Architecture. Prior to completing his diploma, James worked for Collective Architecture where he gained experience in the design of both residential and large scale public sector projects. He has also worked for multiple practices within Glasgow.

His experience in practice ranges from commercial developments to bespoke furniture design. He has worked for several practices within Glasgow including Hoskins Architects, Dress for the Weather, Marc Kilkenny Architects, and most recently with Baillie Baillie Architects on various residential projects throughout Scotland.
